Unity Principles

God is absolute good, everywhere present—There is only ONE Presence and ONE Power in my life and in the universe, God the Good, Omnipotent-all powerful. God is infinite, unlimited, unchanging, unconditioned and eternal.

The Nature of Humankind is Divine—Within us is a divine potential spiritual perfection, a spark of divinity that the apostle Paul said is, “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Col. 1:27). Our very essence is of God, and therefore we are also inherently good.

There is a Law of Mind Action known as Cause and Effect—Every effect we see and experience in our outer world is the result of a thought held in mind. As human beings, we create our experience by the activity of our thinking. Everything in the manifest realm has its beginning in thought.

Every person’s life can be transformed through prayer and meditation—Prayer is creative thinking that heightens the connection with God-Mind and therefore brings forth wisdom, healing, prosperity and everything good.

Truth can be practiced and lived in our everyday lives—Knowing and understanding the laws of life, also called Truth, are not enough; we must also live the Truth that we know, and that’s why Unity is called “Practical Christianity.”

Unity Tradition

The Unity movement was founded over 100-years ago on Christian principles, spiritual values, and the healing power of prayer. Originally perceived as a spiritual resource for daily living, it was never intended to become an independent Christian denomination, but evolved into one as interest in these gentle metaphysical ideas rapidly grew.

Unity transcends religious denominations as a harmonizing, strengthening influence. Whether you have a church home, have never joined a church, or already practice Unity principles, Unity welcomes you as a kindred spirit who is learning to apply spiritual principles in pursuit of a happier, healthier, and more prosperous life. Unity embraces all people. We believe there is truth in all teachings. Unity leaves all people free to find the truth for themselves.

Although Unity was built on the belief in the healing power of prayer, the founders never insisted that those who sought their help forsake medical attention. Unity supports the medical community and still believes in people getting help in every way they can.

Unity offers a practical, non-dogmatic approach to Christianity that helps people of all faiths lead happier, healthier, and more prosperous lives. Unity emphasizes that God is good and that God's will for humankind is good. As children of God, we are heirs to all that God is and all that God provides. Unity teaches that God is present in every person, and through prayer and meditation, we can experience God's presence in our lives and circumstances.

Unity serves all who seek inspiration and prayer support, without regard to church affiliation, as well as those who use Unity teachings as their primary path of spiritual growth under the auspices of local Unity organizations.
